This page is designed to share information of interest to Hawthorn families, while also reducing the amount of paper going home with our students. Inclusion on this page does not mean that Hawthorn endorses any of these programs. Rather, we are simply passing along information.
All information presented here must be associated with organizations that are local, non-profit, and open to all of our student community. Hawthorn has the right to refuse to post any item that does not meet these criteria and may limit the amount of time it is posted to two weeks. YMCA Adventure Guides
You are invited to learn more about Adventure Guides. The Lake Prairie Federation is a YMCA Adventure Guides parent-child program designed to help foster a lifetime of understanding and companionship and to strengthen the relationship between children and parents. The program is for parents and children, ages 5 through 12. The program has groups for girls (Princesses) and boys (Guides). Parent and child attend the acitvities togehter with other parents and their children. For more information, visit

Free D76 Health/Community Services Fair is August 16
The FREE District 76 Health and Community Services Fair will be held Saturday, August 16 at West Oak Middle School, 500 Acorn Lane, Mundelein. The fair, which is sponsored by the Lake Forest Care Coach and Rosiland Franklin Medical School, will run from 8 to 11:30 a.m. First come, first served for free school/sports physicals and immunizations. Parents must accompany children and bring shot records. For more information, see the

Kids 1st Health Fair is August 6 - Free Services
The 16th Annual Kids 1st Health Fair for Lake County Children will be held Wednesday, August 6 from 9 to 7 p.m. at Miguel Juarez Middle School, 201 N. Butrick St, Waukegan. Services are FREE for Lake County families who meet income guidelines. Requires proof of residency and income, as outlined on the flier. Includes free school physicals, immunizations, TB tests, sports physicals, tetanus shots and more. For more information, view the

Hawthorn Class of 1987 Reunion
This 20 year reunion is long overdue! Tentative date set for June 13, 2009. Sign up and learn more at
