Lice

Head lice is a highly contagious condition which is common in areas where large numbers of people congregate. Children are particularly susceptible because of the nature of their habits.

Prevention, the best defense, involves instructing individuals to never share personal articles such as clothing, bedding, towels, outerwear, hats, hair ornaments, and especially hairbrushes and combs. Avoid placing personal items (such as coats) in piles or in close proximity.

Lice crawl; they do not jump or fly. They seek the warmth of the human head and do not live very long away from a host.

If you suspect that your child may have lice, please check with a knowledgable health care provider.
